So, I have officially upgraded from a pillowcase to a curtain. Will had very sweetly washed all the bedding I am going to be chopping up, but I decided it was time for a change of pace. I started by taking my brand-new, incredibly sharp fabric scissors to a massive curtain, chopping off a small section to practice my eight pleats.
The curtain fabric was honestly so much easier to work with because it wasn’t nearly as flimsy as the pillowcase. However, hand-stitching the top was an absolute riot. Halfway through, my hand started violently cramping, but I soldiered on and kept stitching, even texting a friend for a good Netflix show recommendation just to keep my sanity intact.
After finishing the permanent stitching and the basting, I introduced the curtain to my bestie, the iron.
The result was really surprising! It was wonderfully structured, and the pleats actually fell and moved beautifully. We have motion, people!
To top off today's victories, I also joined an online kilt forum. It has already been incredibly helpful, and a ton of seasoned elders have been popping up to offer me amazing advice. It turns out I’m not the only one fighting fabric in my pyjamas!
