Hi, I’m Breagh, a living-room sewist currently living in a permanent cloud of thread offcuts with a mysterious ability to lose my scissors every five minutes.

My journey started with a single memory bear and a £20 portable machine that had a personal vendetta against me it would cut the thread after every couple of stitches . One community class later, I was hooked. When my sister surprised me with a Singer for my birthday, my hobby (and the fabric pile) truly took flight.

Most days, I’m upcycling old clothes into beach bags or sewing for family, everything from summer dresses for my Mum to custom bike baskets. Everything I know, I’ve taught myself through you-tube and Instagram reels. 

In a moment of pure 'sewing-machine-confidence' right after I finally managed to sew a perfectly straight line without it looking like a mountain range. I decided to take on the ultimate challenge: I'm going to teach myself to make a traditional Kilt.

Armed with a book called 'Scottish Kiltmaking for Beginners' and a mountain of patience, I’m trading my upcycled scraps for eight yards of wool.
